Regenerative Medicine Treatments at CELLAXYS

Depending on your issue, we perform two types of regenerative medicine treatments:

Cell-based Therapies

You may already know cell-based therapies as stem cell therapy. This procedure involves extracting the patient’s healthy cells or tissues, processing them, and reinjecting them into the damaged area. Stem cells are responsible for repairing and restoring, so they instantly begin their work in the injury site.

Cell-based therapies can be of two types based on where the surgeon decides to harvest your healthy cells from. These include:

• Minimally Manipulated Adipose Tissue Transplant (MMAT). In MMAT, the surgeon extracts healthy cells from the patient’s adipose (fat) tissues.
• Bone Marrow Concentrate (BMAC). Evident from its name, BMAC involves harvesting healthy, highly concentrated cells from the patient’s bone marrow.

Both MMAT and BMAC take about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. The surgeon uses live X-rays to detect the injury site.

Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

In PRP, the surgeon takes the patient’s blood sample and sends it to the centrifuge to separate platelets from it. These are the healing components in our body, which are then reinjected into the injury site to promote new tissue development.

Platelets release 10 essential growth factors, attract healthy cells, and produce web-like scaffolding called fibrin. The goal is to accelerate restoration of the damaged tissues and cells. PRP takes about 45 minutes to complete.

Dr. Pouya Mohajer

Director of Regenerative Interventional Spine Medicine

Pouya Mohajer, M.D., is a seasoned professional with 20+ years of experience in pain management, perioperative medicine, and anesthesiology. He is the founder and the Medical Director of Southern Nevada Pain Specialists Center and PriMMed Clinic. Dr. Mohajer has completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center-Chicago.

He holds a solid academic background, too. With board certification in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Medicine and fellowship training in Pain Management from Harvard University’s Brigham and Woman’s Hospital, Dr. Mohajer uses his exceptional expertise in helping patients with regenerative medicine.

Dr. Pejman Bady

Medical Director

Dr. Pejman Bady started his career in Nevada and Kansas’ fast-paced emergency departments over 20 years ago as a Family/Emergency Medicine practitioner. He became the CEO, Medical Director, and Consultant of healthcare companies in California, Nevada, Kansas, Germany, the UK, and Haiti.

Dr. Bady was also the Executive Board Member of DaVita/HealthCarePartners. Currently, he is the head of Emergency Medical Services in Nye County, Nevada, and co-founder and the Chief Medical Officer of Grey Dove Inc. He is also the Medical Director at CELLAXYS in Las Vegas.

His academic background includes a medical degree from the Western University of Health Sciences, leadership skills from USC Marshall School of Business, plant-based medicine, and Ayurvedic Medicine from Vaidyagrama Hospital in Coimbatore, India.
