Stem cell therapy is a regenerative treatment that uses the body’s own cells to support healing and cell repair. It’s mostly used for orthopedic, spine, and musculoskeletal issues among athletes and non-athletes.
According to the Orthopedic Research Society, roughly 1 in 2 US adults is diagnosed with at least one of the above-mentioned conditions. In major hubs like Las Vegas, stem cell therapy is often the first choice for orthopedic regeneration.
If you’re considering getting this procedure in Las Vegas, don’t forget to do your research. Learn everything you need to know about stem cell therapy in Las Vegas, including cost, procedure, and ideal candidates, in this guide.
What is Stem Cell Therapy?
To understand stem cell therapy, we first need to understand what stem cells are. Stem cells are a certain type of self-renewing “empty” cell that can turn into other types of cells via differentiation.
Depending on where they are in the body, stem cells can turn into heart muscle cells, brain cells, or bone cells. No other cell in the body is naturally self-renewing like stem cells.
Stem cell therapy is a regenerative treatment that uses stem cells to repair damaged or diseased tissue. Instead of relying on donor organs, which are limited, it uses the body’s own cells to restore a certain function.
Scientists grow and manipulate stem cells to differentiate into specific cell types, such as heart muscle cells, blood cells, or nerve cells. Once specialized, these cells can be placed into the body to target a specific problem area.
For example, in someone with heart disease, specialized cells may be injected into the heart muscle. These healthy cells may help repair or replace damaged tissue. Studies have shown that certain adult bone marrow cells can be directed to act like heart cells and may help improve heart tissue repair.
How Much Does Stem Cell Therapy in Las Vegas Cost?
The stem cell therapy Las Vegas cost can vary based on the type, number, and quality of stem cells administered. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere between $5,000 and $25,000.
If you’re getting a single stem cell injection for a specific treatment, it may cost $4,000 on average, with any additional injuries treated in the same session for as little as $800.
According to a 2025 poll, 30% of the respondents paid $5,000 or less for stem cell therapy. Meanwhile, 20% spent $5,000–$10,000, 40% spent $10,000–$25,000, and 10% spent over $25,000.
If you’re getting stem cell therapy for orthopedic conditions, you’ll most likely pay less. That includes knee osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, rotator cuff tendonitis, arthritis, and cartilage defects. Since the amount of cells or dosage for orthopedic treatments tends to be lower, the stem cell therapy Las Vegas cost averages between $5,000 and $8,000.
On the other hand, stem cell therapy for autoimmune, degenerative or inflammatory conditions can be very pricey. It typically starts around $27,500 and can even go higher.
Does Stem Cell Therapy Work?
Numerous studies and clinical trials have proven stem cell therapy to be safe. Most patients reported temporary side effects such as fever or fatigue. There were no adverse effects shown after stem cell therapy across the studies.
The question is, does stem cell therapy really work? It depends on the condition being treated.
For instance, stem cell therapy is highly successful in treating bone and joint conditions, with patients reporting a major reduction in pain and improvement in joint function. Side effects of stem cell therapy for bone and joint issues are limited to temporary swelling and discomfort.
It has also been shown to improve neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease. Studies suggest improvement in speaking, facial expressions, and walking. In a 2022 study, 4 out of 5 patients were able to stabilize their symptoms after stem cell therapy.
The Stem Cell Therapy Procedure
Here’s what you can expect while getting stem cell therapy in Las Vegas.
Step 1: Extracting Healthy Stem Cells
First, the surgeon decides where to collect the stem cells from. They may take them from the patient’s bone marrow or from fat tissue.
If they choose bone marrow, they use a needle to remove a small sample from the iliac crest, which is part of the hip bone. This method is called Bone Marrow Concentrate (BMAC).
If they choose fat tissue, they perform a small liposuction procedure to remove a sample of fat. The stem cells are then separated from that fat. This method is called Minimally Manipulated Adipose Tissue Transplant (MMAT).
Step 2: Concentrating the Cells
Next, the cells are processed under FDA guidelines that only allow minimal manipulation. The surgeons do not grow or multiply the stem cells in a lab. Instead, the cells naturally divide on their own after being placed in the body.
The collected cells are processed in a centrifuge, spinning at high speed to separate and concentrate them. After that, the surgeon activates the cells with a small amount of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) before using them in the treatment.
Step 3: Reinjecting the Cells
The surgeon extracts the concentrated stem cells into a syringe and injects them into the injury site. You may start noticing a difference in inflammation and pain within just a few weeks.
